Banking in Action!

What is money? Everyone is talking about money, but just a few know about its characteristics and the role that it plays in the economy.

How is the money actually transferred into economy? Who ensures that there is not too much money and that there will be no inflation? What are interest rates?

With Bank Emotion fundamental business knowledge is easily and lively transmitted!

Bank Emotion is an intensive two day simulation based on a board game. In the course the participants manage a bank over a 3 – year period. Divided into competing groups, they face the task of acquiring profitable business, opening new branches and producing a healthy profit.

Content:

Parrticpants make decisions about:

  • which deposits to take in,
  • which loans to accept concerning interest rate, duration and risk,
  • how many people to hire
  • how to refinance to secure liquidity
  • the level of marketing expenses

and they experience the consequences of their own strategic and financial decisions.

Bank Emotion makes it possible that the participants learn from their own experience. In the course of the simulation they learn how the cash-flow works in the bank; how important the principles of liquidity and capital adequacy are and how treasury, marketing & sales, financial services and HR functions are interconnected. In brief overview it’s possible to see how activities in one department of the bank effect other departments and by the end of the day the bottom line.

The competitive character of the simulation captures the participants so much that they are mostly resisting to quit!

Financial concepts like P&L-Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Performance Ratios are explained and connected to the everyday business operation of the bank. The at the end of each period simulated business year reflects in financial numbers the subjects to improve if necessary.

All teams have to organize themselves and work efficiently due to time pressures throughout the simulation. After every round the teams present their results supported by the competent feedback of the trainer.

The intensity of the teamwork developed over the 2 to 3 seminar creates a strong emotional experience rewarding the participants with plenty of insights about successful management and they will reflect their level of achievement.

The business simulation Bank Emotion is characterized by three new elements:

  1. Compact presentation of the banking business by reducing it on its “categorical structures”
  2. Clear presentation of the bank business – a bank to touch!
    There is no “black box” procedure with intransparent market distributions, all bank transactions are clearly displayed.
  3. Modular design of the simulation
    The simulation is designed so that the degree of complexity can be individually controlled by different bank transactions. Depending on the target group you may set different priorities and can individually modulate your workshop.
